Tainted Bael is a character in Bael, a mod for The Binding of Isaac.

Cat Slap (consumable slot)

Cat Slap launches a head familiar in the direction Tainted Bael is firing. The head deals contact damage (dmgStat × 1.5) and tries to return itself to Tainted Bael's face, launching them back.
Tainted Bael cannot fire tears until the head is attached.

Movement speed gets decreased to (0.3 + speedStat × 0.15) but only while the head is attached.
Damage is inherently reduced. (3.5 + [dmgStat - 3.5] × 0.25)
Fire rate slowly decreases overtime while the head is attached. Using Cat Slap resets the fire rate, and performing various tricks provides an increased fire rate bonus.

While playing as Tainted Bael, all items pools are infested with Cat Items.

Tainted Bael gains PRIDE by completing rooms quickly, without taking damage, and by performing trick shots.
Picking up any Cat Item will also give an immediate +20 PRIDE.

PRIDE is exclusively spent on Crusty Dice Shards, which spawn naturally inside Treasure Room and Boss rooms.

While Tainted Bael is holding 60 or more PRIDE, there is an increasing random chance to start a floor with Curse of the Blind! (100% at 200 PRIDE)

Fortune of Cat will appear at the beginning of every floor, which reveals various trick mechanics.

From chapter 4 onward, Fortune of Cat will begin to threaten that Bael must hold a certain amount of PRIDE before the floor ends or else Bael's HP becomes "severed", which will remove several hearts, soul hearts, and up to one heart container at the beginning of the next floor.

Learning how to Cat:

SPIN: Using and holding Cat Slap just before the head returns (while it's playing the grab animation) will cause the head to spin around Bael, which destroys projectiles. Letting go while holding a direction will launch the head in that direction.

GRAB: Using and holding Cat Slap as the head is hovering above an enemy will hold the enemy in place.

PERFECT RETURN: Using Cat Slap just after the head returns stops Bael's velocity, grants a fire rate bonus, temporary invincibility, and movement speed remains undiminished for a few seconds.

TRICK SHOT (body slam): Use the velocity gained after the head rejoins to slam into enemies, dealing great damage. This protects from enemy contact damage, but not projectile damage.

Misc tips and tricks:
-Using a Crusty Dice Shard will reduce the chance of Cat Items from spawning for the rest of the floor.
-Launching the head before entering a new room will position it right behind Bael. Good for an immediate spin, perfect return, or trick shot.
-Using Cat Slap can recall the head early, or even instantly after a spin. This can be used to perform trick shots with greater control of timing and direction.
-Many items provide unique synergies when performing tricks. (Ex. Brimstone fires an additional Brimstone laser when a grab is performed)
