Corn Kernel is a familiar in Fiend Folio, a mod for The Binding of Isaac.

Spawns a familiar which orbits Isaac in a wavy pattern, blocks shots and deals contact damage.

The familiar can be upgraded up to 4 times by obtaining additional copy of the item. Each level has its own characteristics.

Level 1: deals 9 damage per tick (38.57 per second).

Level 2: gains the ability to shoot an explosive corn shot while Isaac is shooting, that deals 10 damage in a small radius, while the corn itself deals 3.5 damage. The shot can be fired once every 2 seconds. The explosion cannot harm Isaac or damage the environment.

Level 3: converts from an orbital to a walking familiar that wanders aimlessly around the room, dealing 4 damage per tick (17.14 per second). While in an uncleared room, the familiar will occasionally stop moving and teleport in different locations rapidly a few times.

Level 4: chases enemies rapidly, periodically teleporting short distances towards them and automatically shooting a large explosive projectile while doing so. The explosion deals 3.5 damage and can destroy rocks, but it can also hurt Isaac for half a heart. The contact damage is lowered to 3 damage per tick (12.86 per second).

Each subsequent copy will create a new familiar and start the process all over again.

The item will always drop when defeating Meltdown or Pollution in a Boss Room.
