Spirit Shackles is an unlockable passive item in The Binding of Isaac, added in the Repentance DLC.

Upon death, Isaac turns into a ghost linked to Isaac's dead body, and can continue fighting with 1/2 of a heart for 10 seconds, after which he comes back to life.

Isaac gains flight while in ghost form.

The effect cannot occur again until a half or full Soul Heart or Black Heart is picked up. Doing so will charge the item without adding to Isaac's health.

The Shackles appear blue when ready to be used, and grey when they aren't.

Spirit Shackles

• On death, transforms Isaac into a ghost with 1/2 heart remaining, chained to his body for 10 seconds
• If Isaac survives the 10 seconds, he returns to life
• After this effect has been triggered, it must be recharged by collecting 1 soul heart or black heart
• Soul hearts and black hearts consumed by its recharge do not grant HP
• Abyss: x1 locust .75x Isaac's damage
