Nyx is an unlockable passive item in Fiend Folio, a mod for The Binding of Isaac.

Grants 3 gems that orbit around Isaac, and are launched at enemies while Isaac is shooting. The gems do not deal contact damage and do not block projectiles.

Gems have a very powerful homing effect, and will attempt to stick to the nearest enemy. They cannot fall to the ground unless a wall is hit, which makes the gem fall to the ground until it is picked up again by walking over it.

Gems have spectral properties, meaning they can go through any obstacle.

When a gem hits an enemy, it deals +2 of Isaac's damage, and sticks to the enemy, applying a bruising effect, and causing the enemy to receive +1 bonus damage from any source when hit. Each gem further increases the bonus damage by +1 if stuck to the same enemy.

Gems will fall off of enemies after being stuck for 10 seconds.

Despite their different appearances, each of the gems has the exact same effects.

All gems return to Isaac upon entering a new room.

Gems are launched at a rate of 1/3rd of a second, meaning it takes exactly 1 second for all 3 to be launched if holding down the fire button.

The shot speed of the gems scales with Isaac's shot speed.

If Isaac has poison tears, gems will create a poison cloud when stuck to an enemy, that can poison nearby enemies as well.

If Isaac has tears that deal increased knockback, gems will create a shockwave effect when hitting enemies, knocking back nearby enemies as well.

Shielded tears will also cause projectiles to be reflected back at enemies, dealing damage to them instead.

Neptunus and Pisces will cause the gems to create a water splash effect when sticking to an enemy, that deals 20% of the gem's damage to nearby enemies.

Toy Piano, Mars, and Prank Cookie (11% chance) will create a Doom countdown effect that also transfers to nearby enemies, and deals damage to them equal to Isaac's damage (cannot be lower than 1). Check Toy Piano's page for full details.

Technology, Technology 2, Jacob's Ladder, Tech.5, and Tech X will create a chain lightning between enemies when a gem sticks to one of them. The chain streak depends on the number of laser-related items held, and deals damage equal to Isaac's damage.

If Isaac has an item that allows critical hits, gems receive a 10% bonus chance to apply such a hit.
